The bars are already chosen. You pick the city.
What the ticket actually covers, which stops are worth the queue, how far you walk between them and when the night really starts. Reviews of the pub crawls and bar hops you can book tonight, from Temple Bar to Golden Gai.
Four crawls to book if you have never done one.
A French Quarter ghost walk with a cup in your hand, the Prague night that ends five floors up, Dublin’s hostel crawl and a Madrid start time that would be a bedtime anywhere else. What each costs, and what the people on them say.

02PraguePub Crawl with Unlimited Drinks & 5-floor Club EntryUnlimited drinks are in the ticket, and so is the five-floor club everyone ends up in.

In the USA the crawl comes with a story attached.
Colonial taverns, a murder tour with drinks in it, taprooms four to a block. Four kinds of American night, what it costs to join each one, and the city that does it best.

Six cities that run a proper crawl every night of the week.
Bars close enough to walk between, guides who know which door to try, and enough of them running that a Tuesday is not a write-off. Start with one of these six.
Free shots, a VIP door, and bar games between rounds.
This is the crawl most people mean by the word: a meeting bar, a shot at every stop, drinking games nobody admits to enjoying, and a club at the end you would not have got into alone.

On a haunted crawl the ghost is the excuse and the bar is the point.
Squares in Savannah, the French Quarter with a cup in your hand, Salem in October, an Edinburgh close where the guide drops their voice. The murder gets told, the next round arrives, and nobody minds which came first.
The pub crawls more people book than anything else.

What a pub crawl costs, from one shot to an open bar.
Every crawl on the site, grouped by ticket price. Most of the good ones cost less than the round you were going to buy anyway.

Three nights out that only happen where they happen.
Every city has bars. Eight stools in a two-metre-wide Shinjuku bar, a courtyard left the way the bomb found it, and a street where the drink walks with you are not portable.

Golden Gai and the izakaya run
Golden Gai is six alleys of bars the size of a garden shed, most of them seating eight, many carrying a cover charge and a reputation for regulars only. A guide gets you through the right doors, orders in Japanese and settles the cover before anyone sits down. The izakaya version starts earlier and comes with food, which is the one to take first.

The ruin bars
In the old Jewish quarter landlords stopped repairing bombed-out apartment blocks, and somebody put a bar in the courtyard. Szimpla came first and the rest followed, each furnished from whatever was left behind: bathtubs, a gutted Trabant, a wall of dead televisions. A tour runs four or five of them, which is the only reliable way to find the ones behind unmarked doors.

The open-container crawl
Savannah lets you carry a drink through the historic district in a plastic cup, so the crawls here walk the squares instead of hopping between doors. Guides fill the distance with the city’s murders and hauntings, and the route covers more ground than a pub crawl strictly needs to.

Four things that decide whether a crawl is your kind of night.
Crawls are cheap and mostly good, which hides the four questions worth asking before you pay: what the ticket buys, who the door lets in, how far you walk, and who you are walking with.
- 01What the ticket buysA free-shot crawl covers one shot at each stop. Everything you drink in between is yours, so budget for the bar as well as the ticket.from $8
- 02Who the door lets inVIP entry skips the queue, not the dress code. Clubs still turn away shorts, sandals and matching stag shirts, and the age limit follows the country, not the tour.from $8
- 03How far you walkA pub tour is a walking tour with stops. Two to four miles on cobbles is normal, and the historic ones set off in daylight rather than at ten.from $18
- 04Who you walk withA private crawl sets its own pace and its own bars, which is the answer for a birthday, a stag night, or anyone who would rather not meet ninety strangers.from $20
In Japan the bar hop is the tour, and somebody has to do the ordering.
Six-seat counters, cover charges nobody mentions until the bill, and menus with no English anywhere on them. A guide here is not a luxury, it is the difference between three good bars and an hour on your phone outside a closed door.
Every Japanese bar hop →By city — where the crawl runs
